THURSDAY, AUGUST 20

Bringing Paraiso back this year has been beyond emotional for everyone. Guided by the importance of continuity and connection between the brands, media, industry, and consumers Paraiso debuted Digital Hub, the exploratory online space focused on showcasing the upcoming collections through creative fashion content and words from designers.

Traditionally, our first day started with Paraiso Upcycle Challenge. The project was created to raise awareness on the importance of sustainable practices in the fashion industry, and offer valuable mentorships from the swimwear industry veterans. Paired in five teams, each student showcased two looks created using left over fabric donated by their designer mentor. This year’s award went to Raquel Zerbib from Miami International University of Art and Design mentored by Normaillot, a luxury resort wear and lifestyle brand inspired by the magical world of timeless, innovative and luxury fashion and materials.

Our evening was reserved for an intimate fashion show and socially- distanced media dinner in the Hyde garden, showcasing Silvia Tcherassi Resort ‘21 collection inspired by the bohemian spirit and essence of Coconut Grove, a waterfront Miami neighborhood where designer lives.

To embrace the rising accessibility of new technologies and taking the first steps into a new frontier of digital exploration, PARAISO presented the first fully virtual fashion show by The Diigitals, featuring their avatar supermodel cast led by @Shudu.Gram. The fashion show launched the swim line by Lavie by CK. The Voyage Collection is a nod to Designer Claude Kameni's familial roots in Cameroon.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 21

Virtual shows are Paraiso’s new rhythm. After months in quarantine, brands have returned to swim week, and are rethinking everything, most notably the fashion shows. Friday started with the virtual debut  of Vitamin A Resort/Spring ’21 “of the moment” runway video composed of the user generated content (UGC). The brand showcased their new line through the lens of Vitamin A’s loyal customers -- real women, each in their own element.

Online shopping got a lot more intuitive and immersive. Stitch Lab, an online marketplace caring curated selection of Latin American brands got consumers engaged with the new format during Paraiso. The live shopping hour with stylists Omar Thomas and Mariela Ortega got everyone excited to discover new products in this way and have fun while shopping from the cabana by the pool.

Beach Bunny went to almost See-Now- Buy - Now show. They presented a collection that was available to buy nanoseconds after the virtual debut of the runway in their own boutiques, and online store. Obviously, Beach Bunny is not thinking about immediacy only, some of the Resort ‘21 looks were showcased to get industry excited about what’s coming up. The beautiful Plymouth South Beach became an ideal backdrop for this occasion.

Inspiring Resort’21 collection by Agua Bendita left us speechless. While only 40 media guests were allowed to be present at this socially-distanced (should we call it “ filming” ? ) everyone was able to tune in for the live stream on paraisomiamibeach.com
A generous color chart inspired by the Earth and wisdom of nature, strike the perfect balance. The artisan exploration joins iconic silhouettes, voluminous designs, complimentary styles, and more minimalistic lines, reinventing some of Agua Bendita’s pallets through the exploration of textiles.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 22

Luli Fama Diosa runway fulfilled all the expectations. Founders Luli and Augusto said hi to the guests and viewers over a pre-filmed video and announced the fashion show. As we watched their first live streamed extravaganza, an eclectic mix of vibrant hues and bold prints strut down the runway, having us fall in love with this brand all over again. The collection celebrated the power of women, in a very festive yet sophisticated way.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 23

Ancora is the first Colombian brand to propose exclusive prints that complement the male, female and children lines. This new concept is called “Matching family” or “Matching pair”. PARAISO Sunday started with the fashion presentation, showcasing the newest collection, and signature pieces characterized for being a conceptual, innovative and totally focused on capturing a unique lifestyle.

Staying true to the spirit of PARAISO Miami Beach, MAAJI provided an energetic finale with their lively collection inspired by the sacred fauna. The collection broken up in six colorful groups presented bright, neon-like tones, calming neutrals, whispering pastels, and crisp clean primary colors.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed sipping on Sipsmith Summer Smash and Gin & Tea cocktails, while partaking in live streams from SLS South Beach during this distinctly different season of swim week.
